Episode 23

[Two female students run up to Serena and Robyn while they're eating lunch.]

One Student.
Serena, Do you know where Bay is?

Serena
Ah... no...

Robyn [looks up]
Hi, Maki.

Maki (The other student)
You didn't see her did you?

Robyn [rolls her eyes]
Fine, don't say hi... No, I haven't seen her, why are you looking for her?

Maki
Me and Sasi need to ask her if she'll represent the school in the acrobatics competition next week.

Robyn [knocks over her soda onto her math book]
What?!

Sasi
The girl that was going to go, just broke her leg...

Serena [stuffing her face with food]
So why Bay?

Sasi
Have you ever seen her practice? She's good.

Robyn [cleaning up her soda]
Yeah, she is... but I'm not sure she'll want to go...

Maki
Well, we've got to find her...

Bay [walking up, eating her lunch]
Find who? [shoves her sandwich in her mouth to free her hand so she can takes the books out from under her arms and sit down]

Maki
Bay! We wanted to know if you'll represent our school in the acrobatics competition?

Bay
I thought Huneria was doing that.

Maki
She broke her leg.

Bay [surprised]
How'd she manage that?

Robyn [smirking]
Probably copying your landings...

Bay
Funny Rob.

Maki
We don't know... She's just not going to be able to go.

Bay
So why not get someone else in the gymnastics club?

Maki [whinily]
Baay! You know no one else can do half of the things you can... not even Robyn... and you helped her train!

Bay [surprised]
Robyn?

Robyn [ducking out]
I gotta go...

Bay [loudly]
Stop! [Robyn freezes] Since when are you in gymnastics club?

Robyn [turns her head]
Since they kicked me off the Volleyball team... and since Drama Club's been broken up due to no one ever coming to rehearsals... I thought it'd be fun to be in it with you... I thought you knew...?

Bay
I've never gone to the Gymnastics Team meets. The only reason they even consider me a member is because I use the Gym.

Robyn [looks down and frowns]
I'm sorry... I guess I messed up again, hunh, Bay?

Bay
Ah.. don't worry about it... Your free to join what ever club you want..

Maki
Please, Bay? Will you do it?

Bay
Sorry, I know what those competitions are like... no way.

Sasi [waves her hand]
Ah, forget her, Maki, Robyn can go... since Bay helped train her, she's the closest we've got... [looks over] Will you do it, Rob?

Robyn [shocked]
Me? I really don't think I'm ready for any kind of competition, guys... I'm not THAT good... [points to Bay] Ask her... she'll tell you... [smirks] The only thing I can do that she can't is land... [giggles]

Bay
Hey, this stuff takes years of practice... and you want to send Robyn?! She's been doing it for what a little over a month?

Robyn [stands up, defensive]
Hey! I could do it! You just said you didn't want to... maybe you could come along and keep me company...

Maki [smiling]
You can bring one guest if you make it to the semi-finals in New York...

Bay [eyes widen]
New York?

Maki
Yeah, if you win the finals, you go to New York for the international competitions.

Bay
{"New York's only a little way from Canada. A few hours bus ride, and I could be home."}

Maki [waving her hand in front of Bay]
Bay... Bay... wake up...

Bay
I'll do it.

Maki [surprised]
You will?

Bay [smiling]
Sure!

Robyn [glaring, and a little upset]
{"They knew Bay wouldn't let me go... they used me!"} [she grabs her lunch bag and sticky math book and storms off into the school]

Maki [confused]
What's wrong with Robyn?

Bay
You don't think she's mad?

Maki [waves her hand]
Nah... We knew you wouldn't let her embarrass herself in an important school competition... We only asked her so she'd feel better. See ya Bay! [giggles and her and Sasi run off]

Bay [angrily]
That was cruel... Robyn's not bad... she wouldn't have embarrassed anyone... with the exception of those two... [grumbles and sits on the edge of the bench, not finishing her lunch]

Serena [seeing Bay's not paying really attention]
Bay? Can I have your cupcake?

Bay [approaching Robyn in class]
Robyn?

Robyn [wiping the remnants of tears from her eyes]
What do you want Bay?

Bay
Ah, geez... listen, I'm sorry. It's not that I don't think that your good enough...

Robyn
So what is it then?

Bay
Well, If I go to New York, then maybe, I can visit home.

Robyn
You lived in New York?

Bay
No... It's a long story.

Robyn [curious]
Tell me...

Bay
Ah. {"Yeah, I'll tell you that I'm really a guy, and that the real me is living happily in Canada, right now."} I'd rather not...

Robyn [glares and turns her head forward to listen to the teacher begin class]
Yeah, right...

[Class continues with Bay wondering what she meant... and why she was so upset]

Voice [From behind Bay]
Pssst.. Bay, note.

[Bay looked back and took the note. She opened it and read what it said]

Bay [confused]
{"Why?"} [whispers back] Ok...

[Bay jotted more on the paper and passed it to Robyn]

[Robyn reads the note, scribbles something, and passes it back]

[Bay adds something and sends the note back]

[Robyn sighs and turns the paper over, writing one last thing]

Teacher
Robyn? Bay? I don't know what's so important that you can't talk about it during spare periods, but if I see you passing anymore notes, you'll both be in detention.

Robyn and Bay
Yes, Miss Kato...

* * *
[Robyn is waiting in her gymnastics outfit, angrily standing there, waiting for Bay to show up]

Robyn [mumbles]
If she doesn't show up, I'll kill her...

Mika [arriving in her gymnastic outfit as well, along with Sasi and two other girls in the club]
Where's Bay?

Robyn
She's not here.

Bay [from down the hall]
Guys cut it out.

Serena [down the hall too.]
We want to see how good you really are.

Lita
Yeah.

[Bay comes through the door, wearing her usual gym sweat pants and t-shirt.]

Robyn [smirking as Bay stops in front of her]
You know, you might land better if you'd wear a gymnastics suit...

Bay [seeing Robyn's purple outfit]
Yeah, right... too close to a swimsuit for me, Rob... the only difference is the tights or whatever...

Robyn [still smirking]
They're stretch pants... [points to herself] This outfit is made to give you freedom of movement... not like your pants and shirt... [giggles] which never stays tucked in anyhow...

Sasi
Bay, you're not going to be allowed to compete in that.

Mika
You'll have to wear a leotard.

Bay
Ah...I don't think so.

Robyn [smirking]
I'd love to see you in a leotard again, Bay...

Bay [confused]
Again?

Robyn [snickers and Serena and Lita chuckle as well]
One word reminder... [looks up, giggling] Joichi.... [laughs]

Bay [grumbles, then says- sarcastically]
Veeeery funny, Robyn... [silence] Ok, well, I guess that all settled no way am I wearing a leotard...

Robyn [stops laughing]
But you said-

Bay [shaking her head]
Uh-uh... the outfit is out... I don't care...[starts to storm out]

Robyn
Bay, don't you want to go home?

Bay [stops in her tracks]
{"Dang, that's right."} Oh, for... where are the blasted things?

Lita [confused]
Home? Where? New York?

Robyn [shaking her head]
No... Can-

Bay [slaps her hand over Robyn's mouth]
CAN we just get on with practice?

Sasi
If you don't have your own, you can use one of mine, in my locker.

Bay [slowly walking to the girls change room]
Yeah, thanks.

[A few moments later, Bay walks out, grumbling and Serena smiles]

Serena
You look good in one, Bay!

Bay
Stuff it... [Bay grumbles out to the middle of the gym, until she hears noises on the gym's balcony. She looks up, and a large group of boys are leaning against the banister, watching. Bay turns and quickly rushes under the balcony] What the hell are they doing here?

Robyn [pushing Bay]
They're part of the club too... but this is a girl's tournament, Bay...

Bay [freaking]
So?! Why can't they-?

Robyn [stops pushing]
Fine, I'll go... [her and the other girl members of the club walk out and begin to limber up]

Bay [crossing her arms]
Fine. As long as those guys are up there- [she points to the balcony above her] I'll practice on my own time.

Sasi
This isn't a practice, we wanted to help you with a routine.

Robyn [glares back at Sasi]
{"I hope she backs out... then we'll see their faces when I show them up..."}

Bay
Well, I'm not doing anything while they're up there. Simple as that.

One of the boys
What happened to Bay?

Robyn [smirking at Bay]
She wussed out...

The Boy
Ahhhh...

Another Boy [almost inaudible to the girls]
Shut up. Five of the six is just as good.

Bay [sitting down on a bench]
Go ahead, I'll watch.

Robyn
Ok.

Sasi [talking to the guys, trying to get them to leave]
Ok, you've all had you fun, time to go.

One of them
We came to watch.

Maki
Yeah, well, you can't.

Neko [(Finally speaking up... she's usually silent at the practices)]
We want Bay to practice routines... if you're up there, she won't budge... Go away!

Robyn [pouting]
Come on Bay... you got stage fright?

Bay
No, I don't.. I'm just not going to parade around, dress like this, in front of a bunch of hormone driven boys!

Robyn [looks to Neko and shrugs, then taps Maki]
You and Sasi can teach me... Bay learns fast enough... besides, if she can't go, you'll need a replacement, right?

Mika [watching the last of the boys leave]
Well, first let's see what Bay can do... then we can figure out her routine.

Lita
Come on Bay, show us what you can do.

Bay
Alright... [looks at Robyn] they gone?

Robyn [looks up, seeing the last one go, closing the door]
Yep.

[Bay walks out, stretches and does her stuff... :)]

Lita [shocked]
Wow! I never knew anyone could move like that...

Robyn [arms crossed, staring at Bay]
Yeah... but she still needs help on landings outside of the Gym...

Bay [continued to swing around on the high poles]
This is nothing, watch this. [Bay swings again, and at the apex of a swing, she lets go of the pole and spins in mid-air. As she falls she grabs back onto the pole and spins completely around it.]

Robyn [huffily]
Monkey...

Bay [swinging around]
What did you say, Rob?

Robyn
Nothing.

Bay [continued to swing and started slowing down]
This is something I haven't tried in a few years. [She slows to the point were she stops herself on the pole, so she's doing a handstand.]

Mika
What's so great about that?

Bay
Watch... [Bay does a split with her legs, that many people on would consider painful on the ground, and then she pushes herself between the opening between the two poles.]

Robyn
Bay...

[Bay starts to fall, but her legs land on the poles, keeping her up.]

Bay
Owww... this smarts. [She moves her legs and starts to fall, barely catching another pole below.]

Lita
That was amazing.

Serena [claps loudly]
That was great, Bay!

Robyn [clapping for appearance sake]
{"Are you done showing off?!"} Great job, Bay...

Bay [finishing up her swinging, lets go and lands, perfectly in front of the poles]
Well, how was that?

Robyn [half smiling]
It was good... really good... [she stands there and watches everyone else rush past her to compliment Bay, who seems to now be ignoring her completely...]{"What was I thinking... no way will I ever be able to beat that."}

Bay [smiling]
Hey, why don't we see what Rob can do?

Maki [waves her hand]
We know what she can do... we've seen her...

Robyn [stomps her foot]
Well, Bay hasn't, Maki!

Serena [looks back]
Yeah, and neither have Lita or me!

Maki
Oh, alright...

Bay
Ok, Rob, your turn.

Robyn [smiles]
Thank you, Bay... [she walks over to the floor mats first] {"The one thing Bay forgot was the floor routine... I know I can show her up on this..."} [she starts out with a handstand and eventually works her way to a triple flip and other somersaults... everyone but Maki and Sasi are smiling, they just yawn. She does three vaults over the pummel horse, the same as Bay did. When she walks over to the poles Maki stops her.]

Maki [walking forward]
That was great Rob, really, but you always fall from the poles... Bay is still teaching you-

Robyn [straight-faced]
I was only going to do what I knew, not anything fancy like the double flip and grab she did... [glares at Bay] {"The little show off..."}

Bay [trying to encourage Robyn]
Go ahead... do your best.

Maki [shaking her head, she just flatly says]
Nah, she'll hurt herself on them, this is the one area she's not all that good at...

Robyn [angrily at Maki]
I don't know why you and Sasi don't think I could do this... You never intended to let me represent the school, and you still don't... this is all so Bay will go along with your little plan! [she turns and storms into the change room. As she flew by, Serena saw tears in her eyes]

Serena
Look what you three did. [goes after Robyn]

Bay
Me? What did I do?

Lita [sighs]
Nevermind... come on... [starts to follow Serena, but she's hit by a bookbag full of books and falls to the floor] Ooow! I'm lucky that wasn't my head!

Serena [runs out, nervously]
I think we should leave her alone... [laughs nervously] Bye... [runs through the gym and out the main doors...]

Bay
Serena, What's wrong? [Serena slams the main doors behind her] Damn... I hate it when she runs off... [turns to the change room] Ah... anyone else wanna go first?

Robyn [storming out and grabbing her bookbag from Lita, angrily]
No need... I'll see you later, Lita... [glares at Bay] Bay... [she follows Serena's path... through the gym and slams the main doors...]

Bay
Am I missing out on something here?

Maki
Don't worry, give her some time and she'll cool down.

Bay
I hope so.

Maki
Come on, we have to get your routine down...

Sasi
And design your costume for the contest.

Bay
Costume?

Sasi
Yeah, each year, the contestant has a specially made costume, from the sewing club.

Maki
Yeah... didn't you know?

Bay
You mean... I have to wear a special... one of these?

Sasi
Yep, I'm thinking pink and yellow are your colors..

Bay [freaked]
{"No way! I would puke for sure... I'd think I was trapped in my Sailor Suit... think... other colors..."} Ah... how about blue instead...?

Maki [confused]
Pink and blue?

Bay [makes a "yuck" face]
Eck! NO! If I'm stuck with this, how about blue and yellow?!

Maki
Sasi, what do you think?

Sasi
I don't know...It'll have to have some red on it.

Maki
Of course.

Bay
Why?

Maki
The Japanese flag, of course...

Bay
{"Crap... I forgot..."} Ah... yeah, well, you girls can decide that... I gotta go and find Robyn now... make sure she's ok... [turns and walks into the change room] {"I gotta get outta this suit..."}

[after Bay left]
Maki
You think we were right, to set up Robyn, like we did?

Sasi
Well, we need Bay... I don't see how else we could do it.

Maki [looks sad]
Yeah... but I think I just lost a friend... [looks at the door]

* * *
Robyn [sitting outside the park going over this day's events so far]
Ok, first, I flunk the Math test, then I spill soda on my Math book, then I get set up, then I'm ignored and made fun of! What's next?!

Bay [walking up]
Hi, Rob...

Robyn [out loud, but quietly]
I had to ask... [gets up and walks off]

Bay [catching up to Robyn]
Robyn!

Robyn [in a angry voice]
What do you want... Bay?

Bay
I came to see what's troubling you.

Robyn [looking at Bay's jeans and shirt, insulted]
But you had time to change first? {"If you really wanted to make me feel better you would have come, right away."}

Bay
Actually, I just put them on over top the leotard. I wouldn't be caught dead in public with that on.

Robyn [yells]
You didn't acknowledge my presence most of today and you want me to talk to you?!

Bay [truly confused]
What? Your saying I ignored you?

Robyn [trying to hold back from just letting go and crying on Bay's shoulder]
Yes! All day... except for Science class and- [stops] What I THOUGHT was a club meet for practice, not a stage for you to show off! [stands there staring at Bay, realizing she just blurted out part of the problem...] {"Way to go, moron..."}

Bay
So, why are you getting mad at me? I wasn't trying to ignore you or anything. The practice was just as big of a surprise to me as you. I thought we were going to practice.

Robyn [throws her bag at Bay]
I'm tired of everyone looking down at me! You all think I'm nothing! As a normal teenager, as a Sailor Scout, and now as a gymnast! I can't do anything worthwhile without everyone thinking I'm no good at it! [she turns around and runs into the park, Bay can hear her crying as she disappears into some bushes]

Bay [to herself]
I know.

Aphrodite [running up to Bay]
Why do you have Robyn's bookbag? Where is she? The others want a meeting and I was sent to find you two...

Bay
Why didn't you just call on the communicator?

Aphrodite [shrugs]
They shooed me out telling me to find and bring you guys back... [looks up at Bay] I don't have one anyway... remember? I broke the collar... [grins evilly]

Bay
Oh, yeah... Well, Robyn ran off in that direction.

Aphrodite
Shoot.

Bay
Aph, you look a little blush, everything Ok?

Aphrodite
I'm fine, I just want a smoke.

Bay
Yeah, I hear cold turkey's kind of a pain.

Aphrodite
You have no idea. Unfortunately I can't gradually quit because I can't get a cigarette in my month. [looks at Bay's necklace] Come on, Bay, just enough time for one.

Bay [tucking her necklace back under her shirt]
No way!

Aphrodite [pleading]
Then will you hold it while I smoke?! I've gotta have something... PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASE, Bay!!!!!!!

Bay
Aph, No...

Aphrodite [glares]
I hate you... [runs into the park]

Bay [sighs and follows slowly]
That's two down...

Aphrodite [calling]
Robyn? [worriedly] Robyn?!

Robyn [sniffs]
What do YOU want... [sniffs] Are you gonna make fun of the way I'm crying? Am I acting like a two year old?! [starts sobbing]

Aphrodite [walking behind the bush she heard Robyn talking from]
What's that supposed to mean?!

Robyn [sitting curled up against a tree, looks up]
Everyone hates me... I'm no good... they're right... I have no real powers, I'm FLUNKING almost everything... [sniffs] and I wasn't good enough to be seriously considered to represent Crossroads... [starts sobbing into her knees again]

Aphrodite [being selfish]
Robyn, before I help you, can you get Bay, to let me have a smoke? Pretty, pretty, please.

Bay [finally getting there]
APHRODITE! There's no way you're getting one, so DROP it!

Aphrodite [looks back and glares]
You're not helping me you know... [she leaps over the bush] Remember what I told you, Bay! [she takes off]

Bay [grumbles]
I'll make a fur- [thinks] come to think of it, she probably wouldn't have enough fur to make a glove... [looks at Robyn] Rob? She's just grouchy... [no response, just sobbing] Robyn? We were [sarcastically] SUMMONED [clears her throat] to a meeting... let's go... It'll get your mind off things...?

Robyn [looks up, angry]
What for?

Bay
I don't know...

Robyn [stands up]
I don't want to go...

Bay [looks at her strangely]
Let's not start that again... this isn't a thing you can choose whether or not to go... We have to go... It may be important...

Robyn
NO, I don't deserve to be there.

Bay [kneeling down]
What? Ok, if this is about me going to the contest, [gulp] say the word, and I won't go.

Robyn
You'd do that for me?!

Bay
{"Would I do that for her?"} If that's what it takes to get you back into your cheery self.

Robyn [hearing her hesitation]
No you wouldn't... you're only thinking of going home... [yells] How do you think I feel? My home isn't in Japan! It's back in California! In the USA! [keeping the tears back this time] But I can't live there anymore because Mom DIED! [Bay can see she's about to lose it again] I just want to be normal again! Then, the only thing that I'd be upset about is failing! If the others want me there that badly... you have to find me! [she runs through the bushes, trying to get as far away from Bay and anything "Scout-related" as she could...]

Bay [to herself, again]
Ok, Robyn... if that's what you want.

[At the Cherry Hill Temple]

Rei
Well, It's about time, Bay... Your more late then Serena.

Bay
Stuff it.

Lita
Where's Robyn?

Bay
I think she wants to take a 'break' from the Scout thing for a little while.

Serena [shocked]
WHAAAAAAAT?! No way! If I couldn't quit, neither can she!

Rei [angrily]
Stuff it, Meatball Head, this is serious!

Luna [concerned]
Yes, it is... Being a Sailor Scout is a destiny, it isn't a decision... [looks around] Did Aphrodite go to look for her?

Bay [smacks her forehead]
Great... again?! [looks up] She took off before Rob did... this means they've both taken off... {"Last time this happened, we ended up killing Robyn..."}

Mina
I'm sure, Robyn's just taking a break, like Bay said. She'll be back.

Luna
Your probably right.

Aphrodite [sulking in]
No... I don't think she'll come back after this... she's really upset...

Bay [hopefully]
But she'll calm down and realize it's ok, Aph... right?

Aphrodite [looks up sadly]
Perhaps... but not without her pendant... it's in that bag you have... she's out there without it...

Bay [looks in Robyn's bookbag and sees her pendant]
Great...

Serena
Should we go after her?

Bay
No, leave her be. She's angry because she's not normal, like other girls. {"Like she could hold a match to me"} And without this, she is, I guess. She should still have her communicator though, I don't see it here.

Amy [concerned]
No... I still can't fix it... I've been trying for weeks to fix her original one, and the new one just did the same thing... I don't know how she manages to blow a hole in the communicator like that...

Bay
So she has no communicator, or pendant? Why doesn't she tell me these things?

Aphrodite [angrily]
Do YOU tell people YOU'RE mad at that you don't have your locket?

Mina [worried]
She's mad at Bay?!

Rei [grumbling]
Great, we'll NEVER see her again...

Bay [scratching her head]
I still can't figure out what I did.

Lita [upset]
Who cares! If she's that upset, and can't transform, she's a walking target!

Bay [hearing the way Lita put it]
That's why she thinks no one thinks she's good enough! Listen to yourself!

Rei
When Phoenix took her powers, she saw who she really was. And they also know what you look like Bay.

Bay
Me?

Serena
That's right... with that other Bay, she looks exactly like you.

Bay [unsure]
So? There's two of me walking around... Yeah, it's a little disconcerting, but what's this have to do with Robyn?

Rei [slapping Bay in the back of the head]
The Negaverse, knows what you two look like. Meaning they can attack you at anytime.

Bay [rubbing her head]
QUIT THAT! [thinks] Alright, I got it... but how can we find her?

Luna
Where did she go?

Bay [angrily]
I don't know!! She took off and said if you guys want her here that badly... you have to find her...

Lita
Well, you know her best, Aphrodite, where do you think she went?

Aphrodite
Home, her father's...?

Bay
I wouldn't worry too much about Phoenix hunting Robyn, she never goes for the same target twice. Phoenix is more likely to go after one of you than Robyn.

Rei [suspiciously]
Why are you so confident? And just how do you know all this?

Bay
Because I tangled with Phoenix before... and she's never gone after my powers since. Trust me.

Lita [angrily]
Who's to say she hasn't changed?

Rei [adding]
What about Nuku?

Bay
Nuku? I don't think she'll do much, she's trying, but Phoenix, I bet is the one in charge.

Rei [unsure]
I don't know... Nuku looked pretty calm when Robyn flipped on Phoenix...

Lita
We're losing time... let's look for her, we can fight about this later.

Bay [angrily]
I'm beginning to wish this whole competition thing never happened...

* * *
[Much later, Bay walked through the park, looking for Robyn.]

Bay
{"If Robyn still had her memories, she wouldn't want to come back here."}

Maki [from behind Bay]
Bay!

Bay
Maki? What's up?

Maki
We have your routine set...

Bay
Have you seen Robyn?

Maki
Robyn...? She's been at the gym for the last few hours.

Bay
The gym?

Maki [confused]
She said you'd know where she was?!

Bay
Yeah, right.

Maki [excitedly]
Well? You gonna come try out your routine? [smiling] And try on the costume?

Bay [surprised]
You guys finished it already?

Maki [giggles]
Yeah! When Sasi told the Sewing Club who was our representative, they made it very quickly!

Bay
You're joking me.

Mika
Nope! They even sewed a jacket to match.

Bay
{"A jacket?"}

Maki [pulls Bay's arm]
Come on!

* * *
[At the gym Robyn is sitting on the floor, sadly, and Sasi's standing by the poles with an outfit over her arms]

Robyn [looking up]
She's not going to do this... not in that anyway... {"It looks like a reversed Scout costume... pink skirt, white body and yellow top... she's gonna flip..."}

Sasi
But the sewing club worked hard on it..

Robyn
It doesn't matter.

Bay [coming in from the main doors]
Robyn! You've been here?

Robyn
Yep.

Sasi
I got your costume. [holding it up]

Bay [stopped like she was suddenly stuck to the floor]
That?

Sasi
Yeah... What do you think?

Bay [stunned]
That?

Robyn
See, I told you.

Sasi [glares at Robyn, then back to Bay]
Try it on... please?

Bay [grumbles and takes the outfit]
Alright... {"But this'll just make me feel more like a Fruit Loop than I do in my Sailor Suit..."}

Robyn [watching Bay leave]
She's never going to wear that to any competition.

Sasi
Why not?

Robyn
Well, first thing, she doesn't like girl clothes. Second, it's bad enough that it's a leotard, but a leotard with a skirt.

Bay [sulking out]
I hate this thing... I feel like a Fruit Loop, Rob...

Robyn [giggles]

[Over the three weeks, Bay was able to get Robyn, doing flips, and swings, and various other tricks on the poles. Robyn still couldn't get the two tricks that Bay did during the first week right, but Bay showed her some moves, that, although they were a little easier, looked just as impressive]

Hey, that group of boys still hanging outside the front doors?

Yeah. Good thing you taped up the windows on the doors.

Robyn [jumps down from the poles]
What's going on?

Oh, I finished your costume.

[Molly pulled a costume out of her bag, a leotard completely black with the exception of a dark purple color at the bottom, moving up at a 35 degree angle from the right side bottom to about just above the waist. A large red circle a few inches under the left arm hole, which reached down to just start to be covered by the purple, and the school's name coming down the right hand side.]

Doesn't look too bad.

Oh, we made one for you too.

Bay
You did what?

Serena [pulling it out]
Same design, only yellow and white instead of black, and pink instead of purple. That was what the colors were on the old one.

Bay [winces]
That was what made me decide to let Robyn go instead...

Funny... [turns to Molly] Can I talk to you for a minute?

Molly [shrugs]

Serena [quietly to Bay]
You know... I should have made this look more like your Sailor Suit... [giggles]

Ok, no problem, Robyn... see ya later, before you leave for the states! [she follows Serena's path out]

Very funny... No, she's going to switch the colors for me... there's way too much black on it for me... She's going to make it mostly purple... [giggles]

She also told me the jackets would be done tonight, before we go to the US.

We have to have the Japanese flag on our Jackets when we're walking around the Arena... outside you can wear that thing if you want to... I'm so happy to finally be going back to the US! [smiles, sighs and skips into the change room]

Yeah. Just don't let the fact that you beat the other schools go to your head. The competition in the US is a lot harder.

Robyn [from the change room]
I know! I used to go to them with Mom and Dad... I used to dream of winning something like that... any kind of competition, you know? Something to say that I was good at what I was doing... [comes out, fully changed] Anyway, I did that by getting to the finals in the States... [smiles] Shall we go?

Yep.. It's amazing you picked it up so fast.

Robyn [joking]
Maybe I'm just 'shadowing' you.

Bay [serious]

Robyn [seeing her face, gets worried]

[Robyn arrived at the first of quite a few days of practices. The gym was set up differently and they wanted all the contestants to be comfortable when the competition arrived... They were free to use any equipment]

Robyn [seeing lots of other faces she'd seen in competitions before, begins to get nervous]
{"Great..."} [turns and whispers] Dad! I can't do this... I've seen some of these girls perform... I can't-

Cyrus [warmly]
Nonsense... make me proud... You're mother would be ecstatic if she were here... she never got to go to the practices... Come on... go and get settled...

Ok... [She slowly walked through the gym, checking the equipment she wanted to start using]

Ottawa... you know... I really do miss this place.

You know, the air even smells different than it does in Japan... [smiles and ignores Aph's question] I want to go to that diner I used to- [stops] {"Wait, what if "I'm" already there?"}

Ah... nevermind... lets go check out the parliament buildings.

Aphrodite [grumpily]
Isn't that the government...? I really don't like educational stuff... and the Government... well... forget it... [flops over Bay's shoulder like Luna's done on Serena...]

Another contestant [talking to one of her friends, just inside ear shot]
Look that that red-haired girl from Japan.

Yeah... so she's not really from Japan. She shouldn't be allowed in here.

Contestant [watching Robyn practice]
Look at her... She can't even do it right. How in the world did she ever get here?

Other [snickering]
They probably felt sorry for her...

Robyn [lands and runs over, tired of listening]
Konnichiwa... [smirks] Dorks... You know...I do speak English very well... You're right, I don't come from Japan... I live with my dad there... I used to live here... in California with my mom. [angrily] AND I GOT HERE BY BEATING THE OTHER JAPANESE SCHOOLS! [glaring at the two who are dumbfounded and a little embarrassed at her having heard them...] Anything else about my life you'd like to know?!

Contestant [standing up to her]
Yeah.. You're not from Japan, you shouldn't be here.

Robyn [crosses her arms]
There are lots of exchange students here... I happen to have lived in Japan and attended my school for over two months, the qualification for this... [smirks] {"Bay, I wish you were here to help me... I don't know how much longer I can keep this up with out losing it and bawling..."}

Aphrodite [looking at a large brick building]
So this is where you went to school?

Yep.

A Boy [from behind]
Remind me that I have to grab a liter of milk for mom after school, Brett...

Bay [stops moving]
{"It can't be-"} [looks over her shoulder]

Bay [sees a familiar face turn a corner after someone else, but she didn't see the face]
Brett... my old best buddy... But- but that voice was... {"I can't run into myself... that would just freak me out..."}

Aphrodite [smiles]
Cool! [she jumps from Bay's shoulder and runs after them]

Bay [yelling]
Aphrodite! No! Wait! {"Oh, shit..."}

Aphrodite [pounces on Brett's shoulder]
"Mrrroooow!" [purrs, smiling] {"This should get Bay here... I have GOT to see her face if this other guy is Brad..."}

Bay [runs into the courtyard and stops dead]
{"It's me! I mean, the other me... I mean... ah forget it!"} [nervously] Aph? Aphrodite! Come on... you know better than to run off like that... {"Please don't make me walk over there!"}

Brad [turns around]
Aphrodite? That's a cute name- [sees the orange tabby on Brett's shoulder] for a cat...

Bay [nervously walks forward]
Ah... yeah... Aph, come on now, or it's the kitty carrier when we get back... {"It's the carrier anyway, whether she get her butt back here or not!"}

Brad [walks over to Brett and pets Aph]

Bay [in panic mode]

Brad [looking closely at Aph.]
You know... I remember seeing this U shape symbol, on two other cats... must be a breed thing.

Brett [ignoring Brad]
Bay, we were going to grab a bite. Do you want to join us?

Bay [hungry, not seeing any harm in getting food...]
Do I? I'm starving... I was on a bus for hours...

Yeah... We were going to meet Brad's girlfriend.

Brad [looks sad for a moment]
NEW girlfriend, Brett...

Brett [rolls his eyes]

I wish she could have come down here.

Brad [sighs]
Come on... over here... [they go to Brad's car]

Bay [holding Aph now, she whispers]
This is way to weird, Aph...

Brad [pulling out his keys from his back pocket and walks up to a bright red Ford Probe]

[After practice, Robyn comes home and changes, then closes the door to the guest room and pulls put Bay's communicator]

Brad [looking in his rear view mirror.]

[Brad pulled into a blank spot (Kind of hard to pull into a full one! Heh!). Everyone got out]

Oh yeah... where's the nearest bathroom?

There's one in the food court.

Bay [smiling]

I thought they didn't let pets in these malls.

I don't see any guards... Let the cat come... I can use it to get some leverage with Bay.

Bay [walking into the mall carrying Aph with her to the bathroom]
Aph? I do have to go... I was on the bus for how many hours, then I get in a car... Would you talk to Robyn for a few minutes? [hands Aph the collar communicator and enters a stall]

I guess... [talks into the communicator on the ground] Robyn.

[Bay's communicator (that Robyn has) is left alone in the room]

Robyn [eating the pizza that finally arrived, thinks she hears a noise in the bedroom]

Robyn [drops the slice onto her plate and runs into her room, closing the door]

She's using the washroom.

Robyn
I hope you haven't bugged her about smoking.

Aphrodite [innocently]

What do you expect, you ask her constantly!

Aphrodite [proudly]

No... though, I think I'd rather be... I just needed to talk to someone... I wasn't sure if I was gonna cry or kill some people today... Bay, I'm not sure I can do this...

Robyn [stays silent for a moment, then says]
Are you going to be able to watch TV while you're... wherever?

They made a decision to televise these practices because so many exchange students are in the competition this year... So, even if I can't see you, you can still tell me what I'm doing wrong...

Alright... I'll watch whenever I get a chance.

Aphrodite [in the background]

Robyn [giggles]
Tell her she'd better be good and tell her- [the communicator fizzles] Bay? {"Please don't smoke and pop... Bay'll kill me..."} [it just stays silent] I guess she closed her end... {"I hope..."}

Bay [standing up and heading out of the bathroom]

Bay [walks forward]

[A few minutes later, Bay was sitting down at a table, beside Brett across from Brad and Susan]

{"Even as a girl... I still don't like her..."}

[Robyn taking a nap, dreams the dream she'd been having in Japan, that she thought she wouldn't see again...]

Robyn [watching the battle]
Stop! I can't-

Sailor Sun [looks back]
Quit doubting and transform! We need you, Robyn! [goes back to fighting]

Robyn [crying]
But I'm of no use to you all! What can I do against that?! [points to the shadowy creature, no face or real shape, just a representation of a monster, she guessed]

Sailor Sun [yells]
DO IT! You are VERY helpful... now hurry up!

Robyn [unsure]
Bay? [silence, no battle sounds, no talking, nothing... she slowly takes off her pendant, and transforms. There is a thick fog surrounding her] What do you want me to do?! [The Scouts appear, one by one, and all look sad as they pass her]

Sailor Moon [walks forward and stands in front of her, sadly]
You're too late, this time, Robyn... [looks over her shoulder, then walks past her]

Sailor Jupiter [crying]
I can't believe it... [she walks by Shadow] No.....

Sailor Venus [sadly and slowly walks by Shadow]
It's all over this time... there's nothing to be done...

Sailor Mercury [Mars beside her, they stop and Mercury places a hand on Shadow's shoulder]
There was nothing we could do... she- [looks down] he took the final blow meant for us all...

Sailor Mars [seriously]
I'm sorry, Sailor Shadow... the Sun is no more...

[The last two Scouts leave and the fog slowly clears. A boy lays in the center of a field, badly hurt. He is wearing a dark jacket, white shirt and dark pants.]

Sailor Shadow [confused]
Is... is that Darien? [she walks over and sees Bay's locket in his hand] Why-? [she bends down and touches the locket, her memories flood back and she begins to cry] Brad, no... [she cradles him in her arms. He keeps his eyes closed and his breathing is ragged] There has to be something I can do... ANYTHING! [she clutches the locket in her hand, against Brad. His eyes flutter open, but he's dying and she knows it...]

Brad [weakly]
The other Sun... get the other Sun.... [he goes limp and Robyn loses it, bawling]

Robyn [sits up scared]
NO! [realizes she must be sweating, then feels her head and face and realizes they're tears...] What- why was I crying? [tries to remember her dream... and it is mostly blank.... except for one major image... her clutching Sun's locket against a boy, while she's transformed into Shadow... she is crying... but she doesn't remember why...]

Brad [driving his car, Susan in front and Brett and Bay in the back]
Bay, were are you staying?

Bay
Oh, I'm staying at the Ottawa Hotel.

Brad
You want me to drop you off there?

Bay
If you wouldn't mind?

Bay, we were going to Ottawa University to go swimming... Want to come?

Bay [bluffing]
I wish I could, but I don't have a swimsuit, how about bowling.

Brad
That sounds good.

Susan [chimes in]
Oh, I'll bring a spare suit, Bay.

Bay
Great.... {"Swimming? Oh well, Me and my best friend, and Me... what could go wrong?"} Ok...

[The next day, Brett meets Bay, and the two walk to the University.]

Well, I... [spots another suit in her bag] What's that?

Susan [only pulls a bit out]
Well, it's my one-piece... why?

Bay [happily]
Could we ah... switch? I'm not really comfortable with bikinis... [seeing it's yellow] {"Ah... ok... though I'm not too thrilled with the color, it's got to be better than this skimpy little... dental floss thingie..."}

Susan [shrugs]
Ok...

[At the pool, Bay holds Susan's spare one-piece suit and stares at it, strangely]

Bay [holding it in front of her]
{"Geez, this thing looks mike my Sailor Suit with out the bows... can't I get away from Scout stuff for even ONE day?!"}

Susan [walking out of the change room, wearing the bikini]
Bay, aren't you going to change?

Yeah... [She walks into the change room]

Brett [exiting the guys' change room with Brad.]
Whoa... Bay was supposed to wear that?! Brad, you lucky dog!

There's another practice tonight... Get ready, Pumpkin... [he walks out and leaves the door open]

Robyn [bites her lower lip]
Yeah...{" I'm beginning to hate these things..."}

[In the Hotel Room]

Aphrodite [clicking the remote as best she could (hey, she's a cat)]
Where's Robyn?

[The door opens and Bay walks in, hair wet from swimming all day]

Bay [laying down on the bed]
Great! We played sports, had races, me and Susan against Brad and Brett....

Sounds like you had fun.

Bay [flipping around on the bed]
Yeah, Brett's coming to get me in a few hours for dinner.

The Announcer
Yes, folks this is the most intermixed Gymnastics Competition to date... a lot of Exchange students are competing this year and there is a lot of tension between all the schools... [panning the arena] There are students from Russia, Bulgaria, Bolivia, Mexico, Japan, Egypt, and of course the USA in these gyms tonight...

Aphrodite [excitedly, until she sees Robyn standing by a group of girls]
Why isn't she practicing?

Bay [shrugs, still angry at Aph]
Probably taking a break... She's not a slack off like Serena you know...

[About a half hour later, they show Japan's contestant... (We all know who) as she takes her turn in the gym... Aphrodite sits and watches, Bay half paying attention as she orders room service... She called it "a snack"]

Aphrodite [concerned]
Bay? Is a pole supposed to bend?

Bay [looks over]
Yeah, it has to give, you know...

[As they watch, the pole snaps cleanly in two, sending Robyn down to the mat, though padded, from that height, she lands hard, and doesn't move...]

What happened?

Bay [already dialing New York]
{"This is going to send my phone bill through the roof!"} Hello, what happened to Japan's contestant?..... Call Back????? .....They hung up on me....

Aphrodite [tugs Bay's shirt]
Look... the doctors are out on the mat looking now, maybe they'll say what happened...

[They waited and in a few minutes, the announcer ah... announced...]

Announcer
Ladies and gentleman, Japan's contestant, Robyn Markius has been injured and is no longer able to compete... We are now searching for her alternate, Bay Smith, to replace her, but as of yet are unable to locate her... Miss Markius will be taken to the local hospital to be checked over, she'll be fine, folks...

Aphrodite [hits the remote until the TV turns off and turns to Bay]
Did you hear?

Bay [shocked]
I never signed up as her alternate...

Aphrodite [angrily]
No! I meant that Robyn is hurt and can't compete!

Bay
Yeah...

Aphrodite
We've got to go back!

Bay
Ah... Aphrodite, I wasn't planning to tell you until tonight, But I'm not going back.

Aphrodite

Bay [firmly]
I am not going back... to the competition, or Japan... I want to stay here... in Canada...

Aphrodite [looks back and forth between the TV and Bay]
But- Robyn asked you- She needs you to- [stops and stares in disbelief at Bay] You can't walk away from being a Sailor Scout, Brad! [glares] And I don't care who hears me!

Why? I'm not even supposed to be a girl... look at me... I'm not supposed to be wearing a bra, or have hair that I have to brush every night... or wear dumb Sailor Uniforms.

Aphrodite [angrily]
But you are a girl... Fate threw this hand at you and you have to play it!

Why in Japan? I can be just as good as a Scout here.

Because all the other Scouts...

[a knock on the door]

Robyn [wakes up in a hospital bed, feeling sharp pains in her left arm, which she can't move]
Ow... where am I? [looks around] Why- [remembers hearing the snap] Oh no... [goes to sit up, but it feels very painful to move...] Ooowww... I thought that floor was padded... [looks down] Oh, crap...

Cyrus [from the doorway, concerned]
Pumpkin? I'm sorry, Sweetheart, but there's no way to continue now... but all I care about is are you ok?

Robyn [smiles]
A few bumps and bruises... but ok... what happened?

Cyrus [frowns]
Your equipment was tampered with... someone started a cut in the pole before you used it... they're searching for clues to who did it...

Robyn [winces]
{"They wouldn't have done something that moronic... would they?"}

No, I just had a dream, sorry, I didn't mean to be loud... [smiles]

[The nurse closes the door and goes back to her routine]

I've got to get to bed, and be ready to meet Susan tomorrow... God, I hate shopping."} [Bay flops on her bed, and moments later asleep]

Aphrodite [sneaking up onto a sleeping Bay]

[A few moments later, a purple haired girl is carrying two bags and a kitty carrier through the hotel and out to the main street]

I'm sorry, Bay... you wouldn't let Robyn quit anything... I can't let you stay here... She needs you... and so do the other Scouts... [looks up] Believe me or not...

Bay/cat [sleeping in the carrier]

{"Can't I even get some sleep in a hospital? I wish they'd let me go home already..."} [she slowly sits up, and sees her dad in the chair] What's going on?

I don't know, they've been trying to get someone to calm down and won't let me leave you for any reason... They won't let me out into the hallway...

Robyn [stares at him]

Cyrus [being very caring]

Robyn [not wanting to hurt her dad with him worrying]

On a bus, back to New York.

WHAT!? [Aphrodite quickly zips the bag up, and pushes it under the seat]

Aphrodite [puts the locket under her shirt]

[Bay goes out of Aphrodite's sight, but Aphrodite doesn't leave Bay's. Bay doubles back, and hides, watching Aphrodite]

Aphrodite [sighs and pulls out the comm-tag on the broken collar, then enters a phone booth so she can talk with out being looked at strangely]
Robyn? [picks up the receiver, puts in .35 cents, dials a number like time and temperature, and pushes two little buttons on the tag... again calling] Robyn?! Are you there?

Robyn [thinking about all that had occurred, hears Bay's communicator]
"Robyn?" {"Aph?"} [picks it up] Aphrodite? Where are you guys? You sound different... [thinks, then angrily says] Are you human?

Robyn, it's a long story, but Bay ran away... I had to drag her back here...

The bus terminal in Syracuse...Where are you? I mean what hospital...

I asked them what you could eat or drink... They said anything, they just want to make sure you don't have a concussion after falling from such a height... you'll be here for a total of 24 hours... [he hands her a cup]

But, I put my arm out first... that's why I broke it... I don't think I hit my head... {"He's acting like nothing happened..."}

Robyn [stares at the black coffee and thinks of the shadows and her abilities...]

Robyn [fixing the coffee, watching the creamer mix and overtake the black...]

Someone cut the poles during a practice and Robyn fell, breaking her arm... So...she was set up to fall...?

The Japanese contestant looks like she's having some kind of disagreement with the American contestant.

[The competition goes on for about three hours, after each part, Japan and America are either tied or a few points different... the final section? The poles... The scores are tied and Japan and America vie for first place...]

I'll win this easily... [she walks out to the poles and begins her routine...]

{"If this is the best she can do....I'll win, hands down."}

Cutter girl [passing by, on her way out]

[Bay starts her routine, mostly improvising, since she didn't have one pre-made. She swung around and preformed many of the moves she taught Robyn. As she switched poles, she noticed...]

{"This pole's cut too... She must have done it while she was performing"}

[Bay spun around and did her mid air spin, trying to avoid the pole]

{"I hope this works.... "} [Bay flew from the pole she was on, and swung around the sawed pole, halting herself, doing a handstand on the pole] {"Come on... break!"} [After a few seconds the pole gives way, Bay does a split, like last time and using her legs, catches herself on near by poles. She moves her legs, letting go, and by rebounding off of a few poles, makes a perfect landing]

[The judges tally scores and a doctor goes out to look at Bay]

[She gets to the box and sits on a couch, the doctor props her leg up and goes to look for the other screamer...]

{"I'm going to freak you out so bad..."} [looks around] I'm a magic cat... I get people back for evil that they do... You did wrong and will be caught... Fess up, or I match the other leg...

Aphrodite [shows her claws]
You know what you did... the poles? Robyn... and almost Bay?

Cutter girl [plays innocent]
I did nothing! [turns and sees a doctor] Doctor! Listen! This cat talks! [picks up Aphrodite and holds her out to him]

Aphrodite [looks cute]
Mrow?! {"Uh-uh... You're gonna be put away from something...whether it's an insane asylum or whatever!"}

Doctor [sees a shred in her pants]

Cutter girl [shocked]
Yeah, but I mean it! This cat just spoke to me!!! [shakes Aph and as she does, a small mini saw falls from her sleeve]

Cutter girl [confused]

Doctor [picks up the mini saw]

Cutter Girl [carrying the cat]
It talked, it seriously talked.

[They walk right by Bay, sitting down. Aphrodite wriggles out of the cutter's arms and into Bay's.]

[The door opens and a 14 year old girl opens]

[The 14 year old moves from the door and goes back inside, another person comes to the door, a 30 year old woman, with brown hair that was done up in a ponytail, all the way to the base of her back]
